what if the world ran out of oil?

Lets say that all those whacko enviromentalists win and all the big oil companies have to shutdown.  What then?

Is there enough wood in the world to keep us warm in the winter?  How would we get the wood since our cars wouldn't run?

This is a conundrum.  You need wood to keep warm.  I suppose you could just burn your house.  Turn cars into carriages if you are lucky enough to own a horse, the new Cadillac in the oiless age.

I bet in Alberta where it is cold, in the winter you could get a team of dogs to pull you around.  In the summer, not so much as we would be too busy hand plowing our fields so we could eat.  Couldn't ship the food to other people to eat.  Sorry about that.

We could do it if we had to.  It isn't like we would be completely helpless, staring at our iphone hoping they had an app for that, worrying there will be no power to recharge the phone.

Oil allows us to be who we are.  I hate everything about oil.  It is dirty and the people who own it like you and me through our pension or banks are plain sociopathic about feeling like it is our oil, regardless of what country it is in.  When something threatens our oil we will say or do anything to destroy that threat.

Who cares.   Drink until the guilt of being first world goes away.  We have the guns, we make the rules.  Everyone else is our bitches.
